TERRELL S. RAMEY
Auburn -- Terrell S. Ramey, 72, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. An Itawamba County native, he was born May 26, 1934 to the late Dueal and Ollie Warren Ramey. He was a 1952 graduate of Itawamba Agricultural High School and earned two years of college credit. He was a U.S. veteran serving four years in the Air Force, stationed at Nellis Air Force Base near Las Vegas. He was retired from Rockwell International/Delta after 34 years of service. He was also owner of Ramey's Grocery Store in Auburn. He was chairman of the Auburn Cemetery Committee for 15 years and was instrumental in raising the funds for its perpetual care. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, and fishing He was a member of Auburn Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and Sunday School Director.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Auburn Baptist Church with Rev. H.T. Curbow, Rev. Terry Ramey, Rev. Bob O'Neal, and Rev. William P. Smith III officiating. Burial will be in Auburn Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wifeof 52 years, Evelyn L. Ramey of Auburn; two sons, Jeffery Ramey and wife, Carolyn, and Terrey Ramey, and wife, Leona; three grandchildren, Christopher, Caleb, and Olivia Ramey, all of Auburn; three sisters, Betty Ramey Burnes and husband, Clinton, Sue Ramey Trimble, and husband, Billy, and Sandra Ramey, all of Marrietta; one brother, L.P. Ramey wife, Sue, of Fulton.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Forrest Ramey, Horace (Hoss), Ramey Hollis (Curly) Ramey, Junior (Pete) Ramey, James Loyd Ramey, Harold (Wimp) Ramey and Jim Ramey.
Pallbearers will be Lester Holder, Ed Bowers, Paul Reed, George Gregory, George Kellum, Edwin Mattox, Junior Brock, Neal Peach, Bobby Dillard, Allen Brown, Ben Hardin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Maxwell and Harold Christian, Lou Cotham, Charles Kingsley, Ray Gregory, Hansford Farrar, Jim Holowach and Scotty Christian. The Men's II and Senior Adult Sunday School Classes at Auburn Baptist Church and the Rockwell International/Delta Machinery Minor Assembly employees with whom he had worked.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the church Friday
