Teenie Dean Homan, 96, died Friday, July 5, 2019, in the Page Greenhouse at Traceway Retirement Community. She was born in Florence, Alabama, September 1, 1922, to Rufus Mordecai and Ethel Jane Whiteside Griffin. She later moved to Mississippi with her family and was a graduate of Belden High School. For over 30 years, she worked for Sadler Manufacturing and Lanier Manufacturing. Teenie loved flower and vegetable gardening and even had a garden she maintained at Traceway known as "Teenie's Garden". Teenie found great delight in her children, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and their friends. She was a long-time and oldest member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Vandiver and her husband, Buddy, of Tupelo; daughter-in-law, Linda Homan Sisk of Shannon; five grandchildren, Nathaniel Homan and his wife, Sarah, of Oxford, Jonathan Homan of Brewer, Michael Vandiver of Saltillo, Janie Baylis and her husband, Robert, of Prattville, Alabama, and Mandy Hall of West Point; seven great-grandchildren, Emma and Madeline Homan, Katie and Molly Vandiver, Ben and Meg Baylis and Anna Porter Hall; and great-great-grandchild, Logan Wooten.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Rodney Homan who died July 4, 2000; and two brothers, James V. Griffin and J.W. Griffin.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m., Sunday, July 7, 2019 in Belden Cemetery with Rev. Roger Puhr officiating.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.
