Tupelo - Syble Blackwell, 82, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born May 7, 1928 to Tom and Frankie Partlow Estes. She graduated from Plantersville High School. She was worked in several garment factories as a seamstress, and retired from Action Industries after 20 years of service. She enjoyed traveling with the VIP group at East Heights Baptist Church where she was a longtime member. She also enjoyed playing cards and going to the Senior Center. She was the widow of Ralph Blackwell who died July 29, 2004.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Terry L. Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery, east of Plantersville.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen Jeanine Long of the Auburn Community; two grandchildren, Kayleen Veronica Elizabeth Long of Tupelo and Cybil Allison Ashley Long of Tupelo; her daughter-in-law, Theresea Long of Tupelo; her caregiver, Diana Whitten of the Auburn Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Otha Eugene Long; her second husband, Ralph Wallace Blackwell; her son, Ronald Douglas Long; and one sister and one brother.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
