Sybil Walters Roper

April 15, 1924 — April 21, 2010

Guntown - Sybil Walters Roper, 86, died Wednesday, April 21, 2010, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Lee County native, she was born April 15, 1924 to Charlie and Nola Hall Van Buskirk. She was retired from North Mississippi Medical Center.

Private Graveside Services will be Friday at Fellowship Cemetery with Charles Covington officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Betty Sandlin of Saltillo, Pat Stanley of Saltillo, and Jeanie Pruitt of Saltillo; nine grandchildren, Angie Herring, Robby Pruitt, Collin Pruitt, Brian Walters, Kirk Sandlin, Emily Scruggs, Krisha Boren, and Dawn McCarty; one sister, Jo Ann Bentley; one sister-in-law, Frances Van Buskirk; and one daughter-in-law, Patty Walters Parsley; 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Leroy Walters; her second husband, Karl Roper; a son, Larry Walters; and a granddaughter, Sandy Sandlin Finkel; four sisters, Mary Duke, Iva Dye, Mildred Davenport, and Doris Smitherman; and one brother, J.C. Van Buskirk.
