Tupelo - Sybil Patterson Holley, 83, died Friday, July 13, 2012, at The North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born August 26, 1928, to Aubrey and Reba Conwill Patterson. She attended Tupelo Schools, Belhaven College and was a legal secretary before her marriage in 1952. She travelled extensively for the next 14 years with her Air Force husband Joe. A First Methodist Church member since 1941, she was a member of the Belle Bennett Sunday School Class, a volunteer at Helping Hands, Friends of the Library, and the Saturday Reading Club. She was a former Pilot Club member, loved to travel and was an avid reader. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in Tupelo with Rev. Jim Curtis and Rev. Hershel Wiygul officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include two sons, Joseph Holley, Jr. of Memphis and Tom Holley of Tupelo; one niece, Nancy Sullivan; one nephew, Robert Patterson; one special cousin, Gwen Boggs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joseph Holley, Sr., one brother, A. E. Patterson. Pallbearers will be W. E. Boggs, Robert Patterson, Mike Sullivan, John Shows, Louis Young and Mike Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Urcle Lomenick, Lavenia Moore, Mary Katherine Harris, Jonie Bower, Martha Fleming, Jane Sullivan, Mildred Coggins and Laverne Prince. Visitation will be 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2012, at the funeral home, continued Sunday one hour prior to service time in the Gathering Room of First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Belle Bennett Sunday School Class or First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 412 W. Main Street, Tupelo, MS 38804.
