Madison - Susan McLaren "Laren Brooks, 38, died Monday, June 26, 2006, in Gore Springs as the result of an accident. A Tupelo native, she was born November 2, 1967 to Susan Chustz Brooks and Tommy Brooks. A graduate of Tupelo High School, she then received her undergraduate degree from Millsaps College, her masters in education from Mississippi College, and her PhD from the University of Mississippi. She was a devoted teacher in the Mississippi Public School System for 15 years and was presently teaching at Pecan Park School in Jackson. She enjoyed music and singing and was a proud member of Chi Omega Sorority. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Madison.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bryan Collier and Rev. Mike Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include her mother, Susan Chustz Brooks of Nashville, Tenn; her father, Tommy Brooks and wife, Peggy, of Tupelo; a niece, Rebecca Brooks Brown of the home; two sisters, Lyn Brooks Taylor of Horn Lake and Lee Brooks Murphree and husband, Greg, of Tupelo; a niece, Rachel Elizabeth Wright; three nephews, Gregory Brooks Murphree, Thomas Reeder Murphree, and Thomas Michael Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Barber, Leroy Carver, Ted Gordon, Roger Raines, Jeff Seal, Bill Langston, Dan Langley, and Kenneth Warren.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
