Susan (Sue) T. Gwyn, 74, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A native of Roan Mountain, Tenn., she was born March 14, 1936 to Miff and Aletha Teague. She and her husband moved to Tupelo in the mid 70s. She was an engineering secretary for Tecumseh Products until 2001. Earlier in her life she worked in Texas for IBM and she also owned an art gallery and a weekly newspaper, The Oak Hill Review. Her passions included working in her flower gardens, her little dog, Tori, collecting art, and shopping with her granddaughters.
Graveside Services will be 1:30 Saturday at Tupelo Memorial Park with Rev. Bert Harper officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Sonja Wood (Bill Wood, III) of Tupelo; one brother, Ronald Teague of Arlington, Tex.; two sisters, Ida May Contas of Clyde Ohio and Mary Martin of Winston-Salem, N.C.; three grandchildren, Josh Priddy (Ashley) of Memphis, Callee Johnson of Tupelo, Meagan Johnson of Tupelo; her best friend and caregiver, Phyllis Barber (W.C.) of the Troy Community.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 27 years, Robert (Bob) Gwyn; and a son, Jeffrey Gwyn; two sisters and a brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tupelo-Lee Humane Society or the ASPCA.
