Asheville, North Carolina-- Mary Sue Sudduth passed away after a short illness on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at The Lodge Health and Rehab in Mills River, North Carolina. She was born December 7, 1932 in Tupelo Mississippi, the daughter of Dexter Walter Christian and Mattie Vola Pierce Christian. After high school she attended college and began her career as a secretary, first working at Saving Oil Company then Daybright Lighting. She retired after twenty two years as rehab secretary at North Mississippi Medical Center. She enjoyed the next 23 years living in Asheville, North Carolina near her daughter. She was a member of Groce United Methodist Church in Asheville.
She leaves behind her daughter Charlotte Savoy (Tom) of Asheville, North Carolina; grandsons, Landon Savoy (Stephanie) of Asheville, Blake Savoy (Marina) of Austin, Texas, and Colin Savoy (Graham Devitt) of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; four great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Rileigh, Leo and Mariana; sisters, Fay Bell of Columbus and Rachel Maxwell of Moorevile; and a brother, Ray Christian of Mooreville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 66 years, Dan Sudduth; and brother Harold Christian.
Services celebrating Sue’s life will be 3 p.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Funeral Directors with Rev. Troy McConnell officiating. Graveside services will follow in Auburn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until service time Friday at Pegues, Tupelo.
Pallbearers will be Tom Savoy, Landon Savoy, Blake Savoy,Colin Savoy, Scotty Christian, Kevin Maxwell.
