Tupelo - Sue Martin, 93, died Friday, August 27, 2010, at her daughter's residence after a brief illness. A Saltillo native, she was born January 23, 1917 to Wiley and Willie Davis Johnson. She worked 25 years as a supervisor for Purnell's Pride. She enjoyed working puzzle books, playing shuffleboard and card games with her friends at Traceway. She was the widow of Douglas Martin and amember of East Heights Baptist Church.
Services will be 3 p.m. Sunday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Paul Brashier officiating. Burial will be in Booneville City Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Judy Martin Jones of Tupleo; three sisters-in-law, Flo Martin of Tupelo, Myrle Johnson of Charlotte, N.C. and Lois Johnson of Laurel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Douglas Martin; her daughter, Betty Kay Marin; two brothers, Clinton Johnson and Ralph Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Buddy Palmer, John Simmons, Lawrence Stanley, Don Knight, and Marvin Burleson, and David Burleson.
Visitation will be 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to United Methodist Senior Services, 2800 West Main, Tupelo MS 38801; or East Heights Baptist Church, 205 Lake St., Tupelo MS 38804.
