Sue C. Lipscomb

April 12, 1915 — February 2, 2008

Tupelo - SUE CARY LIPSCOMB, 92, a lifetime resident of Roanoke, Virginia, died Saturday, February 2, 2008, at The Mitchell Center. A Bedford, Virginia native, she was born April 12, 1915 to the late Frank and Lily Nichols Carpenter.

She was a devoted, loving mother and grandmother. She was a life long member of Second Presbyterian Church in Roanoke, Virginia. She served a number of years as secretary of Roanokes Christ Episcopal Church. She was an avid supporter of scouting, enjoyed gardening, corresponding with friends and bird watching.

Memorial Services will be 10 A.M. Monday, February 4, 2008 at Calvary Baptist Church, Tupelo, MS with Rev. Steve Hurt officiating; Memorial Services in Roanoke, Virginia will be at 11A.M. Thursday, February 7, 2008 at Second Presbyterian Church Chapel with Dr. George Anderson officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of local arrangements.

Survivors include three sons; William O. Lipscomb III (Kay) of Chiefland, Florida, H Guy Lipscomb (Sandy) and Michael C. Lipscomb all of Tupelo and loving daughter-in-law, Sharon Rogers Lipscomb of Roanoke; five grandsons, Glenn Lipscomb (Jennifer) of Denver, H. Guy Lipscomb, Jr. (Salena) of Pontotoc, M. Greg Lipscomb (Brittany) and W. Drew Lipscomb (Tonya) all of Tupelo; and M. Cary Lipscomb (Kristie) of Roanoke; thirteen great grandchildren, Sarah Grace of Denver, Morgan Ayers , Anne Hollis , and Harry Guy Lipscomb III all of Ponotoc, John Gregory Lipscomb, Jackson Haley, Michael Guy, Julia Hope, William Andrew , Jr., Miller Cary, James Alexander, Ally Ayers all of Tupelo, Hailey Clara Lipscomb of Roanoke; one nephew David Etheridge (Ginny) of Dallas and one niece Susan Swope (John) of Christiansburg, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years W. O. Lipscomb, Jr.and one sister Frances Panky Etheridge.

Memorials may be made to Sanctuary Hospice House, Tupelo or The Music Ministry of Second Presbyterian Church, Roanoke.
