Sudie Mae Pettigo

January 7, 1933 — June 26, 2009

Saltillo - Sudie Mae Pettigo, 76, of the Hebron Community, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Lee County native and life-long resident, she was born January 7, 1933 to Lewis B. and Rennie Lyles Lyons. Earlier in her working life, she worked a number of years with Vend Foods and worked 18 years with Lee Manor Nursing Home. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing and taking care of her dog, Tootsie. Before her health declined, she loved working in her flower beds and vegetable gardening.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Wesley Kingsley officiating. Burial will be in the Eggville Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband of nearly 60 years, James Andrew Pettigo of the Hebron Community; three daughters, Sue Martin of Springhill Community, Elsie Pettigo of Mantachie and Shelia Hall of the Hebron Community; two sons, Prentiss Pettigo and wife, Charlotte, of Saltillo and James L. Pettigo of Mooreville; two sisters, Geneva Pearson and Mittie Smith, both of Saltillo; one brother, James Lyons of Saltillo; sisters-in-law, Delois West of the Ballarsville Community; Lois Pettigo of Arkansas; Clara Mae Pettigo of Piggott, Arkansas; Sallie Pettigo of St. Charles, Illinois; Carol Pettigo of Lombardi, Illinois; two brothers-in-law, Thomas Jefferson Pettigo of Piggott, Arkansas and Dewy Edward Pettigo of Columbus; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friend, Martha Dean Saylors and her daughter, Carol M. Saylors of Saltillo.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gary Ray Pettigo in 1976; one granddaughter, Sarah Pettigo; one grandson, Douglas Pettigo; one brother, Robert Lyons.

Pallbearers will be Tim Pettigo, Anthony Pettigo, Billy Pettigo, Jimmy Pettigo, Frankie Martin, Zack Worley, Skylare Worley, Dewayne Pettigo and Shane Angle.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her granddaughters.

Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Saturday and will continue Sunday at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
