Sudie Marion Crockett

Tupelo " Our dearest Sudie Marion Crockett left us to be with her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on January 8, 2010 after an extended illness while at home. She was surrounded by her family as she ascended into heaven and eternal rest. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will live on through her husband, her daughter, her grandchildren and the lives of all who were blessed to know her. She was born September 4, 1934 in Van Vleet, MS to William Baker and Irene Peden Marion.
Sudie will always be remembered for her brilliant smile, shining eyes, generous heart and her love of people. She never met a stranger and was passionate for making people happy. She was incredibly genuine and would do anything for anyone with sincerity and love. Her life was about family, faith, friendship and enjoying every day. We know that she is welcomed above with open arms.
Sudie was a graduate of Okolona High School and Itawamba Jr. College. She married Jimmy Crockett in 1954. She taught 2nd grade Sunday School for over 25 years and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was the 2nd President of Thomas Street School PTA having served previously as treasure for 2 years.
She was retired from Tombigbee Valley Electric Supply Company with over 25 years of service.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday, January 11, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Tom Groome, Rev. Ron Richardson and Rev. Tommy Winders officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Crockett, of 55 years; two daughters, Becky Easley (David) of Amory, MS and Janice Reynolds (Mark) of Prospect, KY; three granddaughters, Rebecca and Melissa Easley of Amory, MS and Sadie Lynn Reynolds of Prospect, KY; one grandson, Kory Reynolds of Prospect, KY; three sisters, Marie Duke of Van Vleet, MS, Evelyn Walker (Herbert) of Houlka, MS and her twin, Francis Rowan of Senatobia, MS; three sisters-in-law, Betty Mayfield, Sarah Jenkins (Marshall) of Tupelo, MS and Doris Marion of Van Vleet, MS; several nieces and nephews; three special friends, Lillian Staten, Irene Tiffen and Jan Holt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, Wiley A. and Henritta Marion and Thomas W. and Mattie Peden; one sister, Martha Elaine Marion; two brothers, William H. Marion and Thomas A. Marion.
Pallbearers will be Kory Reynolds, Aubrey Mayfield, Steve Turberville, Bruce Krumcke, Marshall Jenkins, Thomas Greer and James William Duke.
Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the funeral home.
