STEVE MONTS Tupelo - Steven Holcomb Monts, 68, died Wednesday, October 28, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Plantersville on June 21, 1947, to Gerald O'Neal Monts and Farrar Holcomb Monts. A graduate of Tupelo High School, he received a degree from The University of Mississippi and the Emory Law School in Atlanta Georgia. Steve loved all sports and was an avid baseball fan; especially of the St. Louis Cardinal's. He also enjoyed music, mostly rock. A celebration of his life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 31, 2015 at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Bobby Robbins officiating. A graveside service will follow at Plantersville Cemetery. Survivors include two sisters, Jerianne Monts Long of Tupelo and Teresa Perryman (Jason) of Tupelo and three nephews, Mickey Long, Neal Perryman and Scott Perryman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Farrar Monts; his brother, Paul Monts. Pallbearers will be Rusty Harris, Greg Harbison, Sammy Perryman, Tim Hoskins, Rusty Benson and Barry Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Monts and Tommy Fulton. Visitation will be 4 - 6 p.m. Friday, October 30, 2015 and one hour prior to service at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
