Steve Megginson

November 17, 1957 — May 10, 2010

Saltillo - Steven Paul Megginson, 52, died Monday, May 10, 2010, at his residence. He was born November 17, 1957, to David McNeil and Marilyn Jane Winters Megginson. In 1977, he graduated from Tupelo High School where he played the drums for the THS Band and developed his skill and enjoyment of wood working. He was in the plumbing business for 35 years as the owner of Megginson Plumbing which later became Big O Services. He loved his employees and treated them like family. A huge Elvis fan, he placed the first wreath on the Elvis Presley birthplace after his death. He was a big person with an equally big heart, willing to help anyone in need. He was a tremendous supporter of many charitable organizations including the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America, The Salvation Army, Gardner-Simmons Home for Girls, The Sanctuary Hospice House, S.A.F.E. Inc., Reach for the Blind, among many others. He was a father figure to many and was known as "Big Daddy." He enjoyed hunting for treasures at estate sales, but his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tupelo.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Grayson and Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Jim Johnson and Jim Bain will deliver a eulogy. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
