WILLIAM "DOC GASKIN

Tupelo - William "Doc Gaskin, 59, died Wednesday, October 19, 2005 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Raised in Okolona, he graduated from Okolona High School and Itawamba Junior College and had played football at both schools. He was a Disabled Vietnam War Veteran serving in the Air Force from April 1, 1968 until April 2, 1969. He was a big sports fan and was known for being an avid Mississippi State Bulldog follower. He enjoyed playing cards with his friends at the VFW where he was a member, and also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. David Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Boones Chapel Cemetery in Chickasaw County.

Survivors include two sons, William Tyler Gaskin and his wife, Amanda, of New Hebron, and Ashley Allen Gaskin and his wife, Mandi, of Nashville; one step-daughter, Brandy Hall and her husband, Christopher, of Tupelo; one sister, Joan Gann and her husband, Guy of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Anna, Brooklin, June, and Gabe; 4 nieces and 1 nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Floice Elrod Gaskin; one sister, Lois Alford; and one brother, Roger Gaskin.

Pallbearers will be Steve, Jason, and Matthew Gaskin, and Ted, Chris, and Timothy Stults.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
