STERLING LARRY DOUGLAS Shannon - Sterling Larry Douglas, 69, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, January 27, 2016, at his home. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on July 25, 1946, to Sterling Sylvester and Sadie Leola Cox Douglas. After high school, he served in the United States Army and went through OSC and became a Captain and served in the Special Forces and was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.  Sterling was an electrical engineer and worked at Cooper Tire as an maintenance engineer. He was the former owner of the Nettleton Pit Stop and Pizza Doctor in Nettleton. He enjoyed watching church services and would spend Sundays with his wife watching them all day long.  He also was a black belt in Karate. A celebration of life service will be 11 a.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bro. Kevin Crook and Bro. Vance Kimble officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of twenty-eight years, Sheila Douglas of Shannon; four children, Barry Douglas (Pattee), Lorri Wright, Bobbi Dupree and David Criger (Dana); 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two puppy dogs, who he considered his special companions, Dagen Faith and Fred. He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Sadie Leola Cox Reedy (William Francis); his father, Sterling Sylvester Douglas; daughter, Jennifer Douglas. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com
