STEPHEN "STEVE" DOUGLAS BELKSTEVE BELK Tupelo - Stephen Douglas "Steve" Belk, 57, passed away Thursday, March 5, 2015, at his home after an extended illness. He was born in Tupelo on January 15, 1958 to Leroy Elbert and Doris Dean Herndon Belk. Steve was a 1976 graduate of Shannon High School. He owned and operated Belk Construction. A master carpenter, he was known for his integrity and his attention to details. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church. He was very involved in youth sports with his daughter and son including girls softball, flag football and baseball. He enjoyed golf and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2015 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Dr. Forrest Sheffield officiating. A graveside service will follow at Lee Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years, Monte Ellis Belk; daughter, Stephanie Belk; son, Matthew Belk (Fiancée, Madison Raines); his mother, Doris Belk; three siblings, Linda Herndon (Ron), Leroy Belk, Jr. (Teresa) and Kathy Biddle (Mike) all of Tupelo; nieces and nephews, Brad Herndon (Melissa), Leslie Herndon Singley (Patrick), Trae Belk (Lindzey), Laura Belk Stewart (Will), Leah Belk Thomasson (Johnson), Kelly Biddle, John Biddle, Evan Ellis and Clayton Ellis. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Belk, Sr. Pallbearers will be Bill Benson, Bill Collins, Joe Collins, Ken Randolph, Eddie Philpot and Mike Scott. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m., Saturday, March 7, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
