Shirley Smith

Saltillo - Shirley V. Smith, 76, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born August 21, 1938, to George and Cleta Vinson. A long-time resident of Saltillo, she worked at Metro Ford Auto Sales in the front office for almost 20 years before retiring. Shirley was an avid reader, enjoyed classical music, gardening and traveling. But most of all, she loved her family and cherished the time she could spend with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church, Tupelo. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Matt Scopel officiating. A graveside service will follow at Lee Memorial Park. Survivors include one daughter, Diana Stembridge (Jon) of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Paul McDaniel (Andrea) of Tupelo and Mattie and Riley Stembridge of Saltillo; three great grandchildren, Menley, Matthew and Madelynn McDaniel; one brother, George "Bud" Vinson Jr. (Dianne) of Albany, Louisiana; three nieces, Cindy Mathis of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Meagan Vinson of Albany, Louisiana and Ashley Wilkens of North Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Robin Blalock; and sister, Beverly Price. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
