SHIRLEY PURVIS JACKSON
Saltillo - Shirley Purvis Jackson, 70, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. A Meridian native, she was born August 24, 1942 to James H. and Bessie Edwards Purvis. Saved on an Easter Sunday, she was of the Baptist Faith. A business woman, she owned and operated the West End Lounge in Meridian. Very artistic, she could draw anything and anybody. She was witty and had an amazing sense of humor and loved telling jokes. She was an avid reader and loved to cook.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery.
Survivors include three grandchildren, Kayla, Monica and Daniel Ryals, of Guntown; two brothers, Monroe Purvis of the Unity Community and Tommy "T.O." Christian (Sandra) of Tupelo; four sisters, Barbara Nutt (J.K.) of Meridian, Jeffrey Lynn Vaughn (Robert) of Saltillo, Jerry Lou Crone (Greg) of Tupelo and Pat Whitaker (Lanny) of Mantachie; daughter-in-law, Shawna Ryals Shurden (Dustin) of Guntown.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Terry Raines and Sam Ryals; two sisters, Martha Ellis and Dot Poole; her father, James H. Purvis; her mother and stepfather, Bessie and James Olen Christian
Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Purvis, Tim and Ken Gay, Jody Christian, Jake Herring, Steve Joyner, Casey Hardy, Jason Taylor and Adam Hale.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at the Saltillo Funeral Home.
