SHIRLEY S. HOLT
Tupelo - Shirley S. Holt, 72, died Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A Mississippi native, she was born July 17, 1933 to the late Purve C. and Florence Beane Smith. She retired as a real estate agent while living in Florida. She also had worked as an accounting clerk and secretary in Memphis. She was a member of Palmetto Methodist Church.
Services will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Don Sparks and Rev. Steve Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Palmetto Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, George D. Holt, of Tupelo; three sisters, Lula Holloway of Gatlinburg, Tenn., Ruth Jackson, and Faye Morton, both of Tupelo; two brothers, Fred Smith of Memphis, Tenn. and Russell Smith of Tuscaloosa, Ala; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Blanche Nichols and Allene Hattaway; and three brothers, Gilbert Smith, John H. Smith, and O.E. Smith.
Pallbearers will be Charles Wade, Greg Hester, Bobby Williams, Ken Harris, Ricky Marshall, and Bruce Williams.
Her nephews and great-nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
