Tupelo - Shelby Jean Seals, 68, died Monday, November 1, 2010, at The Laney Green House of Traceway after an extended illness. A Tupelo native and lifelong resident, she was born December 2, 1941, to William Shelby and Clytee Corinne Richards Tate. She was retired from Farm Bureau after 25 years of service and had worked for the Tupelo Public Schools earlier. She enjoyed reading, cross stitching,listening to Southern Gospel music and most of all, spending time with her family and grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Chad Grayson and Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Ken Seals of Tupelo; one daughter, Diana Chambers (Michael) of Tupelo; two sons, Jeff Seals (Britt) of Birmingham, Ala., and Mike Seals (Jennifer) of Tupelo; one brother, Curtis Tate (Nellie) of Tupelo; ten grandchildren, Hannah Green, Peyton Seals, Julianne Seals, Jessica Mathis, McKenzie Seals, Shelby Seals, Zack Seals, Joshua Chambers, Cody Chambers, and Kenny Chambers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Pallbearers will be Rod Counce, Malcolm Wesson, Danny Kennedy, Brent McBride, Randall Feather, and Jack McFerrin
The Agape Sunday School Class will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
