Mooreville—Shelby Jean Fleming went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at the Baptist Hospital in Booneville. She was 84 years old. Born May 19, 1938 in Itawamba County, she was the daughter of Preston and Laurene Funderburk Davis. Shelby Jean worked over 20 years for Eljer Industries. She loved spending time with her family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. Shelby Jean was a member of Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
Shelby Jean leaves behind her two children, Terry Green of Mooreville and Pam Canady of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Corey Chunn and his wife, Morgan, and Christina Chunn; great-granddaughter, Amelia “Millie” Chunn; and two step-great-granddaughters, Emma Beth Skelton and Lily Grace Skelton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Evelyn Hopkins.
Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023 at the Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy. A service honoring Shelby Jean’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the church with Rev. Ryan Napalo, Rev. Billy West, and Rev. Wayne Thorn officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Carlton Green, Keith Seaton, Jimmy Funderburk, and Eddie Harris.
