Nettleton " Selina Whitmon, 33, died Monday, February 8, 2010, at her residence. An Aurora, Illinois native, she was born May 1, 1976 to Terry and Pam Oaks Stanley. She earned her associates degree in literature and her bachelors degree in history. She married Marc Whitmon on June 7, 2008 and they made their home in Nettleton. She was a customer representative for New Corp. She was actively involved with Bethel Baptist Church and the Living Water Community Church. She loves the Lord. She loved her involvement in leading the Ladies Bible studies and reading her Bible. She was a devout Christian. She loved to travel out west to the mountains, loved to fish and loved her little dog, Pasquale.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2010 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Martin Jamison officiating. Burial will be in Dorsey Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include her husband of nearly two years, Marc Whitmon of Nettleton; her parents, Terry and Pam Stanley of the Dorsey Community; Grandparents: Dalton Oaks (Jane) of Pontotoc, Dottie Negre of Herrin, Illinois and Phyllis Clark (David) of Ocala, Florida; her in-laws, Bro. William Whitmon (Susan); two stepsisters, Amy Michaels (Jeff) and Jennifer Roberts (Jody) both of Pratts Community; several aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her infant child.
Pallbearers will be Rick Carson, Bro. Bobby Thompson, Jr., Officer Ken Stanford, Mickey Phillips, Rodney Marshall and Todd Nichols.
Visitation will be 5 - 9 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at the funeral home.
