Sarah Lynn Walker

May 14, 1937 — July 6, 2019

Sarah Lynn Walker was welcomed by her Savior into eternal life on Saturday, July 6, 2019. She died at Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness at the age of 82. A native of Pontotoc, she was born May 14, 1937 to Lawrence Oliver and Gladys Ray Orr. She was a 1955 graduate of Tupelo High School. In 1955, Sarah married James Winfield "J.W." Walker. Sarah and J.W. lived in Tupelo where she began her career at The Infants and Children’s Clinic working with Dr.’s McDougal, Tharp, Winkler and Wilburn. Sarah's passion was her gift of mercy and love for these children for over 40 years. She was the beloved wife of J.W. for 49 years.

Sarah and J.W were active members at Harrisburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed studying and sharing God's word as a Sunday School teacher for many years. Sarah was loved by many and most remembered by her sweet, soft southern voice of love when she spoke. She was beautiful, selfless, kind and a gift to many. Sarah found so much joy in spending time and loving her family and grandchildren and was lovingly called "Mama Sa.”

She is survived by her children, Andrew Oliver Walker (Lynnie) and Carah Walker Prater (Bill), who remember her as a caring and loving mother; brother, Ray Orr (Nell); grandchildren, Margaret Claire Walker, Catie Walker Huelsing (Mitch) and Harrison Winfield Walker (Addison); great-granddaughter, Cella Gray Huelsing; three nieces, Jo Anne Orr Poole, Jennifer Orr McGreger, and Ana Orr Taylor; and extended family, Courtney Edgeworth Dean (Neel), Bailie Edgeworth,  Emmy, Macy, Nora, Phoebe and Oliver Dean, John Prater (Casey) and Will Prater.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.W.; sons James Winfield Walker,  III, and John Raymond Walker; sister, Francis Goodwin; and brother, Joe Orr.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo.
