SARAH PARHAM
Tupelo - SARAH FRANCES MORGAN PARHAM, 77, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Mooreville, she was born November 24, 1929 to the late Aaron and Arcada Herring Morgan. A 1947 graduate of Mooreville High School, she was a member of the 1946 state championship girls' basketball team where she was named all state guard. November 24, 1947, she married Douglas H. Parham. For several years they owned and operated Dougs Dairy Bar. She later worked for a year as a teacher's aide/assistant and 23 years as Lawhon Elementary librarian. She began playing the piano as a small child, playing one hymn on Sunday mornings at Mooreville United Methodist Church. She later played for a quartet which traveled around North Mississippi. She was a member of East Tupelo Methodist Church (later named St. Mark United Methodist Church) where she served as a pianist for over 50 years, rarely missing a service.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Mark United Methodist Church with Rev. Glen Wiygul, Rev. Donny Riley and Rev. Danny Dabbs officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Kahauolopua, and husband, Joe of Tupelo; her son David Parham and wife, Carol Bruce Parham, of Nashville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Parham of New York City, McClure Parham of Nashville, Tenn., and his fiance, Kathryn Tipton, of Greeneville, Tenn., and Andrea Allard Matthews and husband, Clayton, of Knoxville, Tenn.
Pallbearers will be Gary Garrett, Dean Webb, Chad Willis, Mark Cayson, Billy Yant, Ed Brown, Bobby Thomas, and Cliff Weeks.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Harrison Memorial Sunday School Class of St. Mark United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and one hour prior to service time Saturday at the church.
