Sarah Dunn

Tupelo - Sarah Jean Dunn, 67, died Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a short illness. She was born December 23, 1943, in the Eggville Community to Clyde and Ruth Geneva Love Lucas and was reared in Mooreville. She was a graduate of Mooreville High School and had lived most of her adult life in Tupelo. She worked many years with Boyd's Flowers and Gifts and had also worked a short while in the payroll department at Daybrite Lighting. Her greatest joy in life was providing for her four children. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, working with stained glass and was a fishing enthusiast. She loved travelling with her mother and had visited most of the U.S. states. During her younger years she was in the Jaycees and later in life enjoyed caring for the people in her community. She grew up attending Eggville Free Will Baptist Church. During her young adult years, she was an active member of Gloster Street Church of Christ with her children and in her later years was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Gerald Gann, Dr. Forrest Sheffield, and Minister Doug Greenway officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Boyd Kershaw (Jeff) of Dallas, Texas; two sons, Kirk Boyd of Baldwyn and Bill Boyd (Holly) of Tupelo; one sister Lerlin Comer (Durell) of Dorsey; three cousins, Roger Lucas of Atlanta, Georgia, Brenda Ivester of Hamilton, Alabama and Dane Lucas of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren, Melissa Boyd McAnally (Jason) of Tupelo, Taylor Boyd of Tupelo, Madeline Boyd of Tupelo, Carson Kershaw and Sarah Katheryn Love Kershaw, both of Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oren F. Dunn who preceded her in death December 8, 1996; one son, Mark Allen Boyd who died December 21, 2002.

Pallbearers will be Jason McAnally, Ken Spradling, Zachary Spradling, Matthew Prestage, Mike Vandiver and Karl Baccus.
