Saltillo - Sandy Sandlin Finkel, 39, died Tuesday, May 5, 2009, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a sudden illness. A Saltillo native and lifelong resident, she was born February 10, 1970, to George Samuel and Betty Walters Sandlin. She worked as a medical assistant at Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia before returning home. She then continued her career at the OBGYN Associates and the Surgery Clinic of Tupelo. She loved music and camping and enjoyed spending time with her children, friends and family. She was a member of Covenant Life Presbyterian Church.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at The Saltillo Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Dr. A.B. Kuiper and Steve Yeoman officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandlin Grace Finkel; her son, Bram Finkel; her mother, Betty Sandlin; her father, Sammy Sandlin and wife, Lisa, all of Saltillo; her brother, Kirk Sandlin and wife, Angela, of Marked Tree, Ark.; a niece, Taylor Sandlin; her special friend, Paul Cummins of Saltillo; the Godparents of her children, Sonya and Richard Hill of Saltillo; the father of her children, David Finkel of Saltillo; a step-brother, Jesse Huske; and a step-sister, Krista Huske, both of Saltillo.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Cecil Sandlin.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hill, Tim Kelly, Hugh Rice, Dayton Bentley, Dale Brock and Robby Sandlin.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
