Sherman - Sandra Elizabeth Penny-Mitchell, 68, surrounded by her loving family, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at North Mississippi Medical Center. On March 11, 1951, she was born to Robert McAlvin Penny and Dixie Edwina Stallings Penny in Atlanta, Georgia. She married the love of her life, James Robert "Bob" Mitchell, on February 26, 1999, and they made their home in Sherman. Sandra was known for being a very hard worker as a white glove server in fine dining which included 13 years at Hollywood Casino. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, shopping, doting on her grandchildren, and spending time with her cats. One of her most cherished past times was riding the motorcycle with her husband, Bob. Sandra's nurturing spirit touched many lives and her kind heart and beautiful smile will be greatly missed. The greatest joy in her life was her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Mitchell of Sherman; daughter, Leigha Renee Bennett of Englewood, Tennessee; two sons, Stephan Ryan Keiper of California and David Christopher Mitchell of Memphis; sixteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five sisters and brothers, Rowland Marie Pinotti, Carl Edward Penny, Lawrence McNeal Penny, Nicole Lee Penny and Tracey Penny; mother-in-law, Dixie G. Mitchell; and sister-in-law, Martha Ann Swindle and her husband, Jeremy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dixie Penny and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 2 until 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at W.E. Pegues, Tupelo. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
