Tupelo - Samuel Logan Sammy Forsyth, Jr., 54, died Monday, August 18, 2008, at his residence after a sudden illness. A Tupelo native and lifelong resident, he was born January 27, 1954 to Samuel Logan and Constance Lee Brown Forsyth. He served in law enforcement with the Saltillo and Tupelo Police Departments and later worked in sales and marketing before he became disabled. He enjoyed computers, electronics, ham radios and was a member of the Amature Radio Association. He had a passion for nice automobiles and enjoyed taking care of them. He was a spotter for Sky Warn, a ccoperative of the National Weather Service.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Lee Memorial Park.
Survivors include his half brother, Robert (Bob) Murphy and wife, Linda, of Pontotoc; one niece, Tammy Streetman of Mantachie; two nephews, Shawn Murphy of Tupelo and Dustin Murphy of Columbus; his aunt Mildred Barrett of Tupelo; his cousin Jo Presley of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be James Roy Presley, Marcus Presley, Jerry Ray, Jr., Gene Byars, Randle Streetman, and Brandon Streetman.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the funeral home.
