Furrs Community- Sam Wester, Jr., 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the inpatient hospice unit of North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born May 29, 1927 to the late Sam Sr. and Omie Wester. He was a long-time resident of the Furrs Community. On July 31, 1948, he married the former Virginia Ione Smith. He retired from Delta Rockwell Manufacturing Company 30 years ago. Sam was a charter member of Lee Acres Church of Christ and served as deacon for many years. He was a faithful member and he, along with his wife of 70 years, always felt it was more important to serve others than to be served. They tried to never miss a church service and sought to always help other people by offering food, transportation, or anything else that was needed. He enjoyed the outdoors and he loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of getting to know him.
He always had a smile on his face. It's hard to forget a man who gave his family so much to remember.
Matthew 25:23 "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant!' "
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Maurice and Eugene Wester.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Virginia Ione Smith Wester; two sons, Mike Wester and his wife, Brenda of Tupelo and Barry Wester and his wife, Lena of Furrs; one daughter, Susan Stacy and her husband, Eddie of Furrs; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.
