Ruth Dees Tigrett

Ruth Dees Tigrett, 96, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, at her residence. A native of Tippah County, she was born March 31, 1921, to Mark and Mary Lou Dees. She was married to Hugh Tigrett, Sr. until his passing in 1989 and together they had two children. In 1956, she and her family moved to Tupelo. Ruth had been a member of Young At Heart since the groups inception in 1994. She was a long-time member of St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Brenda Tigrett Hildenbrand and her husband, Gus of Tupelo; one son, Hugh Tigrett, Jr. of Saltillo; one sister, Sammie Self of Millington, Tennessee; six grandchildren, Mark Hildenbrand and his wife, Amy, of Belden, Brett Hildenbrand and his wife, Andi of Tupelo, Amy Counce and her husband, Phillip of Tupelo, Jan Hester of Pontotoc, Kip Tigrett and his wife, Lauren of Saltillo, and Kevin Tigrett of Saltillo; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and her special care giver, Alice Atkinson of Tupelo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and seven siblings.
Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
Services honoring her life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. Chris Lewellen officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be her great-grandsons: Aaron, Andrew, Adam and Evan Hildenbrand, Harrison, Hugh Porter, Dalton and Hudson Tigrett, and Leland and Luke Counce.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1400 Clayton Ave. Tupelo, MS 38804.
