Ruth A. Thorn

RUTH A. THORN   Nettleton - Ruth Aileen Thorn, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born June 7, 1931 to Carlos and Earlie Potts Fowler. Ruth worked at Three Rivers Area Agency on Aging as a Site Manager and with Lee County School System as a bus driver for 20 years. She was of Baptist faith. Ruth enjoyed quilting and loved working outside especially with her daylilies.   A celebration of her life will be held 2 - 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 127 Morgan Circle, Nettleton, MS. Friends and family are encouraged to stop by to share their remembrances and special moments.   Graveside services for the immediate family will be held at New Chapel Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.   Survivors include children, Sonja Hamilton (James) of Tupelo, Patricia Brown (Mike) of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Donny Thorn (Diane) of Tupelo; grandchildren, Jennifer Vaughn (Cole), Jessica White and Bridgette Wilson (Tony); eight great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sarah Fowler, Sarah Patton and Toby Murphy.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Ferrell "Yates" Thorn; brothers, W. S. "Shelby" Fowler, Jimmy Lee "Buck" Fowler, Carlos Lee Fowler, Jr. and John Fowler; sisters, Johnie Mae Atkinson, Olene Presley and Annie Fae Kennedy.   Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
