RUTH JEANETTE STOKES

Madison " Ruth Jeanette Earrey Stokes, 96, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at the Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, Ala. after an extended illness. A native of the Brewer Community, she was born April 2, 1911 to the late Robert Samuel and Mollie Lenora Russell Earrey. She was a 1930 graduate of Verona High School. As the wife of a Methodist minister, she served along side her husband, the late Rev. Wilmer V. Stokes, in the United Methodist Conference.

Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brewer United Methodist Church with Rev. Phillip Box and Rev. Truman Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Brewer Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Stokes West and husband, Jack, of Madison, Ala.; two grandchilren, Michael West and Suzanne West Marsh of Madison, Ala. And and three great-grandchildren, Tyler Ward of Memphis, Tenn. and Leah Marsh and Alex Marsh of Madison, Ala.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a daughter, Bettye Stokes Woodall and son-in-law, Leonard Woodall; and a granddaughter, Stacey Woodall Ward Sullivan

Pallbearers will be Mike Earrey, James Thomas Bowles, Lynn Lindsey, Tommy Lauderdale, Holder Homan, and Bruce Williams.

Honorary Pall Bearers will be the Ministers and Wives of the Mississippi Annual Methodist Conference.

Visitation will be 1 p.m. to service time at the church.
