Nettleton- Ruth Jeanette Ponders Johnson, 80, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany. She was born November 23, 1940 in Tupelo to Eldridge Ponders and Nora Dillard Ponders. Ruth was a faithful and lifelong member of New Life Pentecostal Church. She loved her family and particularly adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ruth was avid animal rescuer, she was always bringing home stray dogs to nurture and spoil. Ruth enjoyed gardening and especially took great pride in her flower gardens.
She is survived by her two sons, Allen Seymore and his wife, Sandy of Nettleton and Bryan Johnson and his wife, Ashley of Pontotoc; seven grandchildren, Cole Seymore and his wife, Candis, Chandler Johnson, McKinley Johnson, Emmison Johnson, Bailey Whitlock, Madison Tate, and Summer Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Dayla Seymore; and one brother, Carl Ponders and his wife, Virginia.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank H. Johnson; two sisters, Joann Morgan, and Mary Ponders; and one brother, James Ponders.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Lee Memorial Park with Rev. Ben Raper officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Taffy Raper, John Fowler, Jeff Gosa, Randy Morgan, Chris Estes, and Cole Seymore.
