RUTH COCKRELL
Nettleton - Ruth Patterson Cockrell, 88, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Golden Living Nursing Home in Amory after a Short illness. An Itawamba County native, she was born September 4, 1918 to the late John and Sara Causey Dykes and was raised in the Carolina Community and the Shannon and Nettleton area. She retired from Reed's Manufacturing in 1983 after 25 years of service. After retirement from Reed's, she worked a number of years at Bargain Town. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word find puzzles, and was known for her love of her family and friends. She was a member of Doty Chapel Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007 in The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Sammy Lansdell officiating. Burial will be in Doty Chapel Cemetery.
Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Jackson of Nettleton; one sister, Polly Patterson of the Richmond Community; one granddaughter, Vicki Jackson of Tupelo; two great grandsons, Jamey Burrow and wife, Tosha, of Shannon, and Corey Burrow and wife, Kayde, of Oxford; three great-great grandchildren, Payton, Taylor, Zoe Burrow.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ruble Patterson; her second husband, Roy Cockrell; two sisters, Anna Kate Wright, and Maudie Sawyer; two brothers, Grady Dykes, and Sonny Dykes.
Pallbearers will be Jamey Burrow, Cory Burrow, Jody Earnest, Tommy Beasley, John Wayne Burt, and John Robert Patterson.
