Ruth Cannon Wilemon

February 15, 1928 — March 29, 2012

Tupelo - Ruth Cannon Wilemon, 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A native of Houston, she was born February 15, 1928 to Melvin and Mary Foster Cannon. She was a devoted pastor?s wife, serving alongside her husband for over 50 years of ministry. She was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the guitar, camping, sewing, working in her yard, and being with her family. Her favorite pet was her dog, Chachi.

Services will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 1, 2012 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with her son, Pastor Dan Wilemon and Pastor Alton Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.

Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Bro. R.J. Wilemon of Tupelo; her son, Dan Wilemon (Debra) of Tupelo; two granddaughters, Shonda Houser (Keith) of Pontotoc and Shea Wilemon of Tupelo; her step-grandson, Brent Robbins of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Jason, Emma Kate, and Gavin Houser; and a host of special nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her great-grandson, Keith Martin, Jr.; her sister, Jewel Cannon; and her brother, Mack Cannon.

Pallbearers will be Keith Houser, Criss Armstrong, Clay Armstrong, Cory Armstrong, Dale Wilemon and Ernie Wilemon

Special honorary pallbearers will be Jason, Emma Kate and Gavin Houser. Honorary Pallbearers will be Harold Cannon, Denath Cannon, and Darrell Cannon; and her pastor and evangelist friends and their wives.

Visitation will be 5 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home and will continue 1 p.m. to service time Sunday.
