RUTH BRIGHT

Shannon - RUTH BRIGHT, 95, died Monday, December 24, 2007, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born October 3, 1912 to the late Whit and Nannie McHarry Parchman. She graduated from Buena Vista High School and attended Blue Mountain College. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She was a longtime active member of Oak Valley Christian Church and served as president of the Pleasant Grove Cemetery Association. She was an active member of the Brewer Home Demonstration Club for many years. She was an avid gardener who loved to raise her own vegetables and flowers.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Mike Brazeal officiating. Gina Kelley will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include two daughters, Lynda Kelley and husband, Harold of Shannon and Nannie Lou Baker and husband, Charles, of Old Union; one son, Jerry Bright and wife, Judy of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Tracy Bridges and husband, Phil, of Tupelo, Jenni Brown and husband, Brian of Madison, Gina Kelley of Huntsville, and Herbert Collins and wife, Peggy, of Old Union; six great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, James Luther Bright; two sisters, Lucille Jaggers and Mary Reifers; three brothers, Jeff, Howard and Harry Parchman; and one grandson, James Kelley.

Pallbearers will be Brian Brown, Phil Bridges, Jason Collins, Scotty Collins, Joe Allen Sisk, and Herbert Collins.

Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Plesant Grove Cemetery Fund in care of the Renasant Bank in Shannon MS.
