TUPELO - Albert Russell Sheffield, 87, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Avonlea Assisted Living in Tupelo. He was a former employee of Hancock Fabrics and an electrician. A World War II veteran, he served in the Air Force in the South Pacific. He loved hunting, fishing, and working in the yard. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and a former member of the Tupelo Civitan Club.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at W.E. Pegues Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Glyn Wiygul and Donny Riley officiating.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Virginia Sheffield of Tupelo; one son, Mark Sheffield (Juanita) of Florence, AL; one daughter-in-law, Sherrie Sheffield of Columbus, MS; 3 grand-children, Hayley Hedrick (Ben) of Marietta, Ga, Ryan Sheffield (Amy) of Columbus, Ga, and Kelsey Sheffield of Florence, AL; 5 grandchildren, Anders, Mary Gunter, Sadler Hedrick, Carolina and Rollins Sheffield.
He was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Sheffield, twin granddaughters, Jessica and Lauren Sheffield, his parents Jeff and Estelle Sheffield, 4 brothers, William Davis, Nolan, Elbert, and Delbert Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Sheffield, Ben Hedrick, Harrison Griffin, Brian Pipkin, Phil Gunter, and Jeff Thorton.
