RUFUS FROST Tupelo - Rufus Frost, 81, died Saturday, October 17, 2015, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in the Endville Community on April 29, 1934, to John and Maude Inez Wilder Frost and was raised in the Longview Community. Rufus married the love of his life and best friend, Bobbie Freeman, on July 14, 1961, and began building a lifetime of memories. Earlier in his life, he worked at Ingalls Ship Yard, drove trucks, owned a milk truck route, and did mechanic work for different people. After 33 years of service, he retired from R. L Estes Typewriter Company. Rufus loved to travel and with his wife had traveled extensively throughout the United States. He enjoyed setting up at flea markets and attending area auctions. Also, he enjoyed riding horses and "coon huntin". Since his youth, Rufus had been a member of Longview Baptist Church. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Clyde Pound and Rev. Roger Smith officiating. A private family graveside service will follow in Endville Cemetery. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Bobbie Freeman Frost of Tupelo; four sisters, Sarah Smith of Mantachie, Pebble Ewing of Oxford, Edith McKissack of Mantachie, and Wilma Collier of Mantachie; one brother-in-law, G. M. "Doc" Freeman (Nancy) of Endville Community; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother. Pallbearers will be Johnny McKissack, Carey Collier, Doug Ewing, Gary Freeman, Chuckie Smith and Billy Paul Langley. Honorary pallbearers will be Robert McKissack, Donnie Ewing, Wayne Francis, Michael Smith, and David Langley. Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2015 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo.
