RUBY REEVES Saltillo – Ruby Brown Reeves passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was a long time resident of Saltillo. Ruby was born on May 22, 1927, to Henry and Minnie Brown in Itawamba County and grew up in Prentiss County. She was a 1946 graduate of Wheeler High School. She came to Tupelo to live and work at Reeds Manufacturing until she met Leland Reeves of Saltillo and they married on December 20, 1947. They made their original home in the Mount Vernon Community before moving to the Old Saltillo Road, where they reared their family and later enjoyed their retirement years. Ruby and Leland were married for 52 wonderful years until his death in 2000. Ruby was a loving and devoted wife and stay home mother, returning to work after their children were older. She worked at Playcraft in Saltillo, and then retired from Rosato Manufacturing in Tupelo. She was a charter member of Bethany Baptist Church in Saltillo and the oldest living member. Ruby enjoyed gardening, sewing, music, and spending time with her family and her church family. She was an excellent seamstress and homemaker. Visitation will be 4 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 and 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at W. E. Pegues, Tupelo. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Frank Breaux of Bethany Baptist Church and Rev. Frank Panzrino officiating. Special music by Dr. Amanda Pitts Summers and Roy Allen Norris accompanied by Lisa Rish. Graveside service will follow in Fellowship cemetery in Saltillo. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements. She is survived and much loved and adored by her three children, Margie Reeves McClung and her husband, John McClung of Cordova, Tenn., Helen Reeves Pitts and her husband, Hoyet Pitts of Tupelo, and James Leland Reeves of Saltillo; three grandchildren, Matthew Reeves McClung of Oakland, Tenn., Leigh Anne Pitts and John Zachary Pitts both of Tupelo; one great-grandchild, Leland Reeves McClung of Oakland, Tenn.; one sister-in-law, Earnestine Brown of Baldwyn; a special cousin-in-law, Wilma Claudine Kneisley; three nieces, Sammie Swinney (Otho Stevens), Sarah Thrasher (Jimmy), and Glinda Horton (Tommy) all of Saltillo; three nephews, Ray Reeves (Peggy) of Saltillo, George Brown (Missy) of Westpoint and David Brown (Carol) of New Albany; many great nieces and nephews, and dear friend, Myrtle O’Rourke of Saltillo. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leland Reeves of Saltillo; parents, Henry and Minnie Mae Brown of Saltillo and her father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Lily Mae Reeves also of Saltillo; two sisters and their husbands, Mae and Fisher Stephens of Baldwyn, Lela and Winfred Reeves of Saltillo; a brother Samuel Thomas Brown of Baldwyn and two infant brothers, Nathaniel and Archie Brown.  Pallbearers will be John McClung, Hoyet Pitts, Matthew Reeves McClung, John Zachary Pitts, and Ray Reeves. Expressions of sympathy may be left at www.peguesfuneralhome.com .
