Tupelo - Ruby Jewel Lewis, 80, died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Homeplace Assisted Living in Saltillo after an extended illness. A native of the Bissell Community, she was born March 29, 1931, to Howard and Myrtle Hutchins Sanderson. She worked as an investigator for the Mississippi Department of Welfare for ten years. She enjoyed cooking for her family and sewing. She was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church where she taught in the youth Sunday School Deptartment. Graveside services will be 4 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Verona Cemetery with Rev. David Smith officiating. W. E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Dr. Jordan Lewis of Tupelo; three daughters, Molly Richards (David) and Melissa Willits, all of Fredericksburg, Va., and Jennifer Lewis of Tupelo; three grandchildren, Nita Hanns of Tupelo, Ruby Helen Richards and Davidwarren Jordan Richards, both of Fredericksburg.
