ROYCE E. STRICKLAND
Tupelo - ROYCE E. STRICKLAND, 73, died Wednesday, January 3, 2007, at the Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A Mississippi native, he was born to the late John and Nannie Belle Strickland. He graduated from Pisgah High School and then went on to Mississippi State University where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He was a United States Air Force veteran. He owned a CPA practice in Greenwood MS from 1974 until 1997. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Tupelo.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Rick Ball and Rev. Dave Jensen officiating. Burial will be in Forrest Memorial Park in Corinth.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Geneva Strickland of Tupelo; one daughter, Paula Strickland of Tupelo; one son, Danny Strickland (Jackie) of Georgia; three sisters, Mary Etta Buckley and Lucille Manganella, both of Massachusetts, and Doris Lindsey of Corinth; one brother, Alvin Strickland (Geneva) of Corinth; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Joyce Bishop, Christine Tumberlinson, and Alma Wood; and one brother, Johnny Strickland.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Bishop, Nathan Lindsey, James Rackley, Marion Tumberlinson, Travis Tumberlinson, and Donnie Wood.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Gary, James Hall, Wesley Sentell, and Evans Whittle.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
