ROSA MARIA ROGERS

Pontotoc - Rosa Maria Rogers, 86, died Monday, July 31, 2006, at North Mississippi Medical Center. A native of LaFollette, Tenn., she was born December 6, 1919 to the late Lorenza and Rosa Maria Pollizette Testo. She lived in Sherman for 50 years and was a member of Sherman Baptist Church untill she transferred her membership to West Heights Baptist Church in Pontotoc where she resided for the last 4 1/2 years. she was affectionately known by her friends as "Miss Rosie" and to family as "Big Rosie." She was extremely outgoing and never met a stranger. Everyone was "honey" or "baby" to her. She will be remembered as a generous and loving mother and grandmother.

Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Rev. David Hamilton and Rev. Billy Foley officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery.

Survivors include her daughter, Rosa Chism and husband, Wilton, of Pontotoc; two sons, Robert Rogers and special friend, Glenda Mashbanks, of Tupelo and Ronald Rogers and wife, Diane, of Pontotoc; eight grandchildren, Roger Chisim and wife, Robin Stanley, of Faulkner, Marie Mason of Tupelo; Vicky Kitchens, Leigh Wells, both of Pontotoc, Keith Rogers of Sherman, Allen Rogers and Stacy Rogers, both of Jackson; 19 great-granchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 1/2 years, Robert A. Rogers; her parents, and a grandson, Britt Rogers.

Pallbearers will be Keith Rogers, Jason Chism, Heath Kitchens, Allen Rogers, Roger Chism, and Garry Mason.

Visitation will continue Tuesday 11 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
