Ronny Gibson
Tupelo- Ronald “Ronny” Thomas Gibson, 71, died Monday, August 28, 2023, at the State Veterans Home in Oxford. Ronny was a character that was irreplaceable to his family and friends. He had an unmated humor and kind heart. He was born July 22, 1952, in Tupelo to Thomas Ashcraft Gibson and Virginia Elizabeth Vinson Gibson. Following his 1970 graduation from Tupelo High School, attending Itawamba Junior College, and working at Penn Tire he enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country as an Aviation Mechanic and had fond memories of his time stationed on the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier.
On December 19, 1970, he married Ann Mitchell and together they have three daughters, whom he adored. Ronny was a hard worker who always enjoyed working on Harley motorcycles, he owned his own shop for a number of years, Heavy Duty Cycle. He was a jack-of-all trades, he spent the majority of his career at Delta International but most recently retired from Busylad Rent-All. He enjoyed riding and racing motorcycles, playing the guitar, and spending time with his family including his three dogs.
Ronny leaves behind his wife, Ann Gibson of Tupelo; three children, Michelle Gibson Sapp (Stephen) of Goshen, Alabama, Angie Gibson Clark (Michael) of Mantachie, and Amanda Gibson (Tyler Hendrix) of Tupelo; four grandchildren, Kyle Sapp, Savannah Clark, Michael Wayne Clark, and Skylan Hendrix; one great-grandson, Tyler Pierson; one sister, Lane Senter (Eric) of Tupelo; one brother, Roland Gibson (Judy) of Tupelo; five nieces; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Linda Sartain.
Visitation will be 9 until 10 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2023 at Lee Memorial Park with Bro. Darrell Cooper officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be the members of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ronnie Warren, John Caldwell, Ray “Killer” West, Tommy Bickerstaff, Van Stephenson, Mike Stewart, Stan Williams, Cary Williams, Jamey Bouchillon, Barry Hall, Buddy Hall, Richard Stephenson, Mike Lemons, and Chris Richardson.
