RONNIE HILL
Tupelo - GEORGE RONALD (RONNIE) HILL, 59, died Saturday, August 12, 2006, at The Sanctuary Hospice House after an extended illness. A New Albany native, he was born August 19, 1946 to the late John Franklin and Christine Gentry Hill. After graduating from Tupelo High School in 1964, he continued his education at the University of Mississippi. Earlier in life, he worked at the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal, and spent 11 years with Kruger Metal. He lived in California several years working with the Los Angeles Times. After that, he worked in the marketing dept. with Cox Cable in San Diego, CA. He was an avid potograper, and freelance writer. He was published in Ford Times, Mother Earth News LA Times and numerous other magazines, newspapers, and publications. He enjoyed swimming, reading and watching old movies. He was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Bill Roberson officiating. Burial will be in Tupelo Memorial Park.
Survivors include one sister, Joyce (Tidwell) Burns and her husband, Steven Burns, of Tupelo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents, Earl and Ildra Gentry.
Pallbearers will be Bob Knight, Danny Smith, Buddy Palmer, Mike West, Danny Burns, and Rodney Lindsey.
Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday and after 12 p.m. Monday.
