Ronald " Bull" Long

Tupelo - Ronald Douglas "Bull" Long, 58, died Friday, June 6, 2008, at The North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. A Tupelo native, he was born February 2, 1950 to Gene Long and Syble Estes Long Blackwell. A 1968 graduate of Tupelo High School, he then attended Hinds Junior College. Earlier in his life, he worked at Rockwell International and Action Industries. He later worked as a mechanic at Rebelanes and was married there to Theresea Long on his birthday, February 2, 1990. He worked several years at Computer Connection before doing freelance computer work. He was currently working for Bar-B-Q By Jim doing his bookkeeping, and also for Wingate Hotel. An avid bowler, he participated in numerous tournaments, served as an officer for the Mississippi State Bowlers Association, and would have been inducted into the Mississippi State Bowling Hall of Fame had it not been for the stroke he suffered on his induction day, May 24, 2008. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Ole Miss Rebels fan.

Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W. E. Pegues with Rev. Chris West officiating. Burial will be in Unity Cemetery east of Plantersville.

Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Theresea Long of Tupelo; two daughters, Kayleen (Ronnie)Long and Ali Long both of the home; his children, Richard Ray and Jennifer Babakhanyam of Hollywood, Calif., and Michael Ray of Mooreville; his mother, Syble Blackwell of Tupelo; his sister, Karen J. Long of Auburn; his step-brother, Michael Blackwell of Baldwyn; and his step-sister, Sherry Hastie of Spokane, Wa..

He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Long who died September 21, 1988; and his step-father, Ralph Blackwell who died July 29, 2004.

Pallbearers will be Jim Bean, Kevin Hartigan, Jerry Holt, Ronnie Holt, Bob Griffin, JJ Johnson, and Jonathan Coleman.

Honorary Pallbearers wil be Jim Grisham, Jim Lacy, Jimmy Roberts, Sam Samuelson, Don Wall, Herb Wall, Johnny Whitlow, James Parker; the Tuesday Night Bowlers and all of his special friends who assisted during his illness.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
