Roger Hart

Roger Legusta Hart, born on December 1, 1964, in Antioch, California, passed away on February 11, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. At the age of four, he was lovingly raised by his aunt and uncle, Alfred and Wilma Kelly, on their dairy farm, where he learned the value of hard work and dedication. He graduated from Mooreville High School and, in 1983, proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country with honor. His strong work ethic and self-sufficiency led him to a career as a self-employed handyman, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

A man of deep faith, Roger was a member of West Mooreville Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and strength. He was known for his outgoing and social nature, always ready to share a story or lend an ear. His love for the outdoors was evident in his hobbies, from fishing to woodworking, where he found joy in creating intricate designs through the art of wood-burning. He took great pride in his heritage, embracing his roots as part Blackfoot, Creek, and Cherokee Indian, carrying the values of his ancestors with him throughout his life.

Roger had a special love for animals, especially his loyal dog, Taz, who was always by his side. Whether working on a project, enjoying the peacefulness of nature, or engaging with friends and family, he lived life with passion and purpose. His warmth, generosity, and hardworking spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.

Roger leaves behind three children, Meaghan Slay and her husband, Hunter, Jonathan Hart and his wife, Julie, and Blake Hart all of Mooreville; eight grandchildren, Leighton Slay, Russell Slay, Kolby Hart, Bell Foster, Trista Manscoe, Sophia Manscoe, Ryder Hart, and Westin Hart; one sister, Belinda Jones and her husband, Don, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; and Johnny Raley and his wife, Cathy, of Corydon, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his aunt and uncle who raised him, Alfred and Wilma Kelly; father, Enlo Hart; mother, Charlene Tutor; and sister, Sharon Raley.
