Tupelo--Dr. Robert M. (Bob) Wilson, 73, died Wednesday morning October 8, 2008 at NMMC after an extended illness. He was born April 26, 1935 in Monticello, MS. His parents who preceeded him in death were John C. and Frances M. Wilson of Greenville, MS.

He proudly served his country for four years in the U.S. Air Force. He completed pre-med at Delta State University and graduated from the University of Mississippi Medical School in 1966. After completing a residency in anesthesiology, he practiced for three years in Greenville, MS. In 1972, he joined Tupelo Anesthesia Group at the NMMC where he practiced for 35 years.

He was a man of many interests and hobbies. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and for a time was a competitive skeet shooter. He was a charter member of the White Tail Ridge shooting center where he spent and enjoyed many hours. He was a private pilot since 1973. As a hobby, he built and flew his own airplane. Among other things he enjoyed cattle farming, raising hay, and driving his John Deere tractor. One of his latest hobbies was playing his saxophone. For the past 25 years, he and his wife Joann have enjoyed boating with their special friends and family.

Dr. Wilson was an active member of Civil Air Patrol local squadron where he held the rank of LCOL. He served as financial officer and medical officer of his squadron. He was a 32nd degree KCCH Scottish Rite Mason. He was an active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church. His church family held a special place in his heart.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Rick Brooks and Rev. Bobby Holland officiating. Entombment will be in Lee Memorial Park Mausoleum with Masonic Graveside Rites. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife Joann Wilson. He also leaves three sons: Robert C. Wilson (Debbie) of Memphis, TN; Kenneth B. Wilson (Kristi) of Slaughter, KY; Andrew C. Wilson (Angie) of Paducah, KY; two daughters: Debra S. Anderson (Terry) of Saltillo and Darla S. Ryan of Saltillo. He leaves one sister, Lou Sorrells of Hattisburg, MS and her friend Glenn Howell of Magee, MS. He leaves six grandsons: Scott Ryan of Saltillo whom he loved as a son, Blake Wilson of Memphis, Christopher and Keaton Wilson of Padukah, KY, Kent Anderson (Kendra) of Hale Iwa, HI, and Scott Anderson (Debi) of Budd Lake, NJ. He leaves one great-grandaughter, Ainsley Ryan who was his Sweetheart.

He was preceeded in death by one son, Christopher Douglas Wilson.

The body will lie in state from 12:30 until service time at the church.
