Robert Russell Tipton, 81, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Water Valley October 28, 1938, the son of Barney and Rosie Dover Tipton. After growing up in the Delta, Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany as part of the peace keeping operation following World War II. He married Agnes Mae Bass in 1968 and they made their home in the Auburn Community for over 50 years. Robert worked hard as a commercial truck driver until his retirement. He was a member of Healing Waters Christian Fellowship in Aberdeen where his Daughter, the Rev. Brenda Harrison served as Robert's pastor.
Robert leaves behind to cherish his memory five children, Velma West of Tupelo, Rev. Brenda Harrison and her husband Richard of Aberdeen, James Hester, Barbara Kirton and her husband Mark, and Sherry Wright and her husband Jimmy, all of the Auburn Community; his brother, Dan Tipton of Aberdeen; 22 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, 39 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnes; his son, Eddie Hester, and a brother, John Tipton.
Private services will be held for the family with his daughter, Rev. Brenda Harrison officiating however, friends are encouraged to share memories and expressions of sympathy with the family though this online guest registry.
