Robert Sudduth

DECATUR, Ga. - Robert Lawrence Sudduth, 57, died suddenly Monday, Sept. 25, 2006, at the Dekalb Medical Center in Decatur, Ga. A native of Montgomery County, Md., he was born Oct. 14, 1948, to Olivia Jewel Sims Sudduth and the late Herschel Cochran Sudduth, M.D. He was a former resident of the Lee County area. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he earned both his bachelor and master degree with honors in electrical engineering. He was employed by GIT as a physics instructor. In 2005 he retired from GIT and enjoyed traveling extensively. Always thinking of others, he chose to help his fellow man in death by becoming a tissue donor. An avid woodworker, he enjoyed making cabinets and furniture for friends. He enjoyed the great outdoors and worked for a number of years as a professional white water river guide and instructor.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the White Zion Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Tom Hewitt will officiate, and David Sims Sudduth will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in White Zion Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his mother, Olivia Jewel Sims Sudduth of Columbia, Md.; a brother, David Sims Sudduth (Bonnie) of Marriottsville, Md.; one niece, Erin Sudduth; one nephew, Christian Sudduth.
